24 rolls of toilet paper on the laundry room floor. This little booger had to open two packages of this while I was making a meal. The laundry room is close to his bedroom, so I thought he was playing in his room. He was pouting when he got in trouble.

Pumpkin Black Bean Soup

This soup is so good! I was worried I had lost the recipe from last year. Looked online and couldn't seem to find the right one. Enjoy!
1 1/2 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 med. onion, finely chopped
14 1/2 oz can diced tomatoes
15 oz. can black beans, drained
30 oz. pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
1/2 c light cream (I used skim milk)
1 tsp. curry powder
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
coarse salt - to taste
fresh chives for garnish

Saute' onion in oil for 5 min. Add broth, tomatoes, beans, and pumpkin. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium - low and stir in cream, curry, cumin, cayenne and salt. Simmer 5 min. The kids may not enjoy this (mine didn't). I loved it and my husband said it was pretty good.

Been busy

Hello. I haven't forgotten about my little blog. I have been very busy w/ life in general. Homeschooling is taking a lot more of my time than I expected for my oldest only being in Kindergarten. She is very strong-willed, so sometimes it takes awhile to get the lessons in. Some days I just give up. I get right back on it the next day & do a little more informal learning often, but do not call it school.

I have also been doing my own version of Becky Higgins' Project Life. I did buy the journaling cards & special sheet protectors w/ the pockets in them. I love this idea. I was once the kind of scrapper that only scrapped for the birthdays, holidays, and big events. I tended to not take pics of just the little things. Once I started doing Muffin Tin Meals, I started taking pics of more things. Of course, I took pics of the kids often when they were doing something cute or wearing a sweet little outfit I wanted to remember.

I have been on the computer much less lately - trying to keep a better home. Don't know if I'm succeeding at that, but I am keeping caught up with dishes and laundry, taking more time to read (trying to read my Bible every day), taking more time to play with the kids, etc.

I do plan to share some fun crafty things I have made as well as more muffin tin & bento lunches (we just made our first ones the other day). So, please don't drop my blog - more to come very soon.

Muffin Tin Meals

I have been doing muffin tin meals, but haven't been blogging lately. Today's theme is trees, leaves, & harvest. I love to decorate for fall, but can you believe I do not have even one leaf cookie cutter? I did have a tiny apple cookie cutter & some tree top food picks I got in my winning package from Muffin Tin Mom.
The kids chose the bear muffin tin silicone liners. I served them a strawberry kiwi mini muffin, applesauce, apple shaped peanut butter & raspberry jam sandwiches, and vanilla yogurt. My daughter ate up every bite, but my son left his muffin stump behind. LOL

Here is a picture of all of the items we received from Muffin Tin Mom. The kids were very excited to receive all of these goodies. Until now, we only had standard & mini muffin tins and one pumpkin tin they would ~~fight over~~ take turns using.

Here is a picture of the lunch they had on the day we received the package. They both had to have a flower, bear, & silly feet silicone holder filled. They had steamed carrots, sauteed smoked sausage & ketchup.

Until last week, I had never heard of grilled pb&j sandwiches before. My friend Jac was talking about how her daughter requested them, so we had to try it. This was our Halloween muffin tin meal from last week's theme. They had cottage cheese, grilled pb&j (raspberry jam), animal crackers, shark crackers (Aldi's version of goldfish - much tastier!!), and Laurana had an apple, too. Liam did not want one for some reason. He normally begs to eat fruit 2-3 times per day. This meal was not very festive, except that we had the cute pumpkin tin.

I made my first card for stampTV today. This was a color challenge to use brown, kraft, yellow, & red. I used a Close to My Heart stamp called You're a Hoot for this cute little card. I raised up my owl to give a little dimension, tied a bow in kraft colored hemp, & distressed the yellow & brown papers. I hope you like it.

Sorry, I was feeling lazy after making my cute album & took the pic on my lap. This was so much fun to make! Each page has a different shape of chipboard - rectangle, rectangle w/ heart cut out, star, heart, house. My mom was oohing & ahhing at this one for awhile. The colors are right up my alley - browns & greens appeal to me. Love the accent of yellow with it all, too.

Fall is in the air...

I have been more ready for fall this year than usual. I am looking forward to getting my decorations out, going to the pumpkin patch, grabbing a jacket on my way out the door, making cookies, making up some fun crafts with the kids for fall, ~~going~~ taking the kids trick-or-treating, fall festivals, hay rides, roasting marshmallows, making caramel apples. I am looking forward to those leaves changing & snuggling up w/ a cup of cocoa or cider. Oh, it all sounds like so much fun to me! Here is a card I wanted to share that I made real quick after putting the kids to bed. I used a peach color card base, a green patterned paper w/ an orange stripe over that & a little ribbon. The pumpkin was made w/ three ovals & inked on the edges. I raised up the center layer, then cut the stem free-hand & stamped the words in the bottom corner. I hope you like it!

Sharing Bed

My kids share a room just for sleeping so we have room for homeschooling. It frees up a lot of space to just remove a little toddler bed. LOL For some reason, the other night, Liam was so scared that he wanted to climb into bed with Laurana. They were giggling at first, so I figured they'd never fall asleep. Once they did, I had to sneak in & take a picture. I love that I can do this in the dark w/ my camera! They really do love each other, don't they?

Dickey Farms - Peach Farm in GA

Seems my husband was hiding from the camera. Pictures include my kids, my sister-in-law Martha, & myself. The peach farm was great! You could sit on the porch in the rocker while eating your yummy fresh peach ice cream & watch them in the peach packing process. They sell peaches, peach salsa, peach BBQ, peach bread, and more. We brought home a large box (bushel?) & small box (a peck). We ate a few peaches & froze about 60 of them. Took hubby & I awhile to slice them all! It was wonderful to visit our sister-in-law for the weekend!

I have a girl that loves pink & a boy that loves yellow, so these trays are perfect for an almost muffin tin style meal for them. They begged to use them when they saw them come out of our picnic basket! In this meal, they had a bunny or tulip ham & cheese sandwich, cottage cheese, green beans, leftover potato & banana slices.

I'm getting better! I actually made Muffin Tin Monday on Monday & blogged about it the same day! It's late in the day, but I did it! Today, I made Mickey Mouse PB on rye sandwiches w/ goldfish crackers, applesauce, pretzels, & diced apricots for the kids. Muffin Tin Monday for lunch today. I decided to build a theme around animal crackers. Having lunch a little later than usual & have to have dinner a little earlier than usual since kids are going to VBS tonight.

In other news, notice I took a pic & uploaded the same day? I found the cord to my camera - wrapped around the cord to the laptop. Good thing I took the laptop w/ me so I could discover this!! I'm a mess

I lost my camera cord & battery to my camera. I found the battery, but still can't find the cord. When I find the cord, I will be able to share more pics. I may just have to get a CD made of the photos on the memory card, so I can share more now. I know it is around here somewhere! I have 2 even! I don't care for being in a tiny house w/ only 3 closets. Sometimes, everything doesn't have a place, so it is hard to keep every little thing organized. I don't have a camera bag, since the camera is almost as small as my cell phone. I have to get an over-the-door shoe organizer for cords. I will label each pocket w/ what the cord or charger goes to.

What are your favorite inexpensive organizing ideas to use in small places?

Felted Wool Purse

I made this purse from a wool sweater I bought from the thrift store. I just felted it in the washer & dryer. Figured out a size & cut away. It is hand sewn, since my machine is acting up. The flower was made w/ scraps & the handles are braided strips from the sleeves. I lined it with an old t-shirt & made pockets from more scraps from the sweater. I have since made a few more & plan to keep on making them. I haven't liked any as well as my first. I made one for a gift for my friend Jaci from a cardigan sweater. Photos of more purses to come.

It is ABC 123 them this week for Muffin Tin Monday over at Muffin Tin Mom

I was inspired by this blog. She did a food for almost every letter. I had limited food, since I shop for groceries in 2 days, but decided to give it a go. I was impressed w/ how well I could do on the fly. Lunch took longer to prepare than normal, even w/o cooking anything for it. The kids got to eat at the kiddie table & enjoy it. I had my daughter bring a chair & the table & my son got the other chair - took them to the kitchen. They can be good helpers like that! I fixed all the foods & had them share out of the tin. The only foods I had to get more of for them was a few sliced pears, some more yogurt & Jello. I was pleased w/ how well they did sharing food out of the same dishes. Meanwhile, this mama had yogurt w/ fruit, cottage cheese w/ tomato & carrots for my lunch.

I am already working on an order for Tessa that I started before the store was born. I will be adding new items to my store on a regular basis. I Felt Like Making Food...

I have a passion to make felt food for my family. I hate the plastic foods you can buy in the store. They are usually too small & the kids try to mouth them. With felt food, they will only attempt that once or twice & realize they don't want felt in their mouth. Actually, my 4 yr. old didn't mouth the foods at all. No more finding teeth marks in a chicken leg that my son was playing with. I'm considering opening an etsy store. I feel I need to practice my sewing a bit more, first. I am definitely not perfect at it! Here are some of the items I have made. Please let me know what you think.

Happy New Year

I hope you are having a happy new year. I am planning to accomplish many things this year.

I ended 2009 having lost 30 lbs. since Oct. 5. I even lost during the week of Christmas!!

So, for 2010, I am going to lose another 50 lbs., which will almost be at my goal. I want to lose 1-2 lbs. per week to go at a healthy pace. Don't get me wrong, I'd love it to come off faster, but I know it didn't come on over night, so I shouldn't expect it to come off that fast, either.

I am going to exercise regularly - Walk Away the Pounds.

Eating healthy - which goes w/ my diet.

I also am going to get more organized w/ my household & my life.

I am going to get more customers for my businesses - Homemade Gourmet, Amway, & Close to My Heart.

I am going to procrastinate less.

I am going to begin teaching my daughter kindergarten in the fall, so we need to get some curriculum soon. It will be here before we know it!

I am going to scrapbook, stamp, & sew more this year than last.

I will blog more, too!

I know most of these are what everyone else does & I know saying, "I will do it more" is vague, but at least I'm more likely to stick with my resolutions.

Christmas Day

The kids were so spoiled for Christmas. Santa gave Laurana a Barbie house & Liam a tricycle and a Thomas the Train playhut w/ tunnel. I made them felt food, got them toy dishes (including a frying pan, rolling pin, and whisk). I made Laurana a red & white tutu, which she loves! They got too many things to mention & really like everything they got. I got some cookie sheets, round cake pans, a very nice blender, glue dots, and truffles. Scott got 3 pr. of jeans, an electric toothbrush, and gift cards to Quiznos & Game Stop. The kids got many more things than I mentioned. We make sure to read about Jesus' birth to the kids all throughout the Christmas season, as well. We want to make sure they understand it is not all about Santa & the gifts they can get. I didn't get any good pics of Scott's family - they always hid from the camera & no good pics of my mom, step dad, brother or grandpa. The kids were always in the way, or they were helping the kids get something out of a box. I will see all of my family again today. Hoping for better pics. At least, I got video of them.

Liam's Grover Birthday Party

You know how hard it is to get a good picture of a 2 yr. old at his birthday party? I had a few family members over in our house - all crammed into the living room. My husband was catching up with his step brother in the kitchen, while I was trying to get pics & help him unwrap. He unwraps one gifts & just wants to play with it, instead of move on to the next present. He absolutely loves Grover, so I ordered the hat you see him wearing off of etsy & I got him the Sesame Street play house w/ a Grover & Oscar in addition to Elmo & Big Bird that came with it. He got Elmo books (including a potty book), a Chuck the Talking Truck, a Colts outfit, a tractor w/ cute little animals & a farmer, and money. He had a blast & would not be still for a single picture. I made this cake to look like Grover. He loved it & it was cheaper than buying one from the bakery.

Gingerbread Houses

We made gingerbread houses w/ marshmallow trees, marshmallow snowmen, candies, graham crackers, & icing. Scott's & Laurana's held up better than mine & Liam's. They had more icing & the roof had a long overhang. Liam was delighted when I told him he could knock it down & eat some of it!

The theme this week was Christmas, so I had to do The Night Before Christmas. My kids really like doing this,

so we will have to continue this! They squeal w/ delight when I tell them we are doing a muffin tin meal.

Today's meal had the following.
Cottage cheese to resemble the snow
a stocking (piece of buttered bread that I cut into shape sans a cookie cutter)
a reindeer made of a pear half, raisins for eyes, pretzels for antlers, and a dried cranberry for the nose
cherries for Santa's nose & cheeks
marshmallows for Santa's white beard
carrots for the reindeer to eat
rolled up chicken lunch meat for logs in the fireplace
Not pictured is jello for Santa's belly that shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly.

I read the book while I prepared it. They didn't want to wait on the jello to set up to start eating.

Both kids ate on the meat first! I figured they'd go straight for the marshmallows!

I am going to do another muffin tin meal this weekend to talk about Jesus. I thought that would be harder to come up with food ideas, based on what I had in my kitchen.

Merry Christmas! Jesus is the reason for this season!!

Menu Plan Monday

Week starting 10/19:
I am now on a diet, so my menus listed will be for the family. I will cook up extra chicken for myself to eat, since I can only eat beef twice per week. I have lost about 10 lbs. in a week (at time I prepared this post in advance). My husband is off work 3 days per week, so I include lunch & dinner for those days. The other day's lunches are usually leftovers or PB sandwiches for kids and a salad w/ chicken for me.

Mon.- Crockpot Rotisserie Chicken

Tues. - Turkey Meatloaf

Wed. - Lamb
Thurs. - pizza

Fri. - Lunch: leftovers
Dinner: meatballs

Sat. - Lunch: Family Gathering - taking something I can have and probably a cake or something (have a cake mix DH doesn't like, so I need to get rid of it).
Dinner: Might go to a fall party, so not sure

Sunday- Lunch: CP BBQ chicken sandwiches, mashed potatoes, broccoli
Dinner: grilled cheese sandwiches

Sour Cream Containers

I made these sour cream containers for party favors for my friend's daughter's baby shower. I love this display stand. I seemed a little small for a standard small cake, but I think it is meant to use for a cake.
These favors are super easy to make. I used scraps for the stamped "thank you" and the scalloped circles and I only needed two pieces of patterned paper for 18 favors.

Homeschool Ideas

I found some cute homeschool ideas. I need to get busy with my daugther, since she will be in kindergarten in under a year. I do hope to homeschool and don't really know how to do it all. I'm glad that I have found some blogs with ideas that I can at least use now. I think I will start a little preschool session for her (and maybe my son will learn a little bit, too). Check out Homeschool Creations and Confessions of a Homeschooler. They both have wonderful ideas. I poked around on a few more that I found from these two. I love the alphabet crafts - like turning a felt or construction paper "D" into a dinosaur. Very cute!

My blog needs help. I know I don't post often enough, but the fact that I have one follower, could be why. I feel that one two are reading this. Maybe more are looking, but I haven't even had a comment since April. I know I'm guilty of looking and not commenting, sometimes, too. I tried a cute template and got it on my blog, then I went to my friend's blog and she just changed hers in the last 24 hrs. to the same template! So, I finally figured out how to get it off, picked a new one, and it won't let me add it. Did I disable that somehow? Also, I have no idea how to shrink my width. My text in my posts are going all the way to the right side and the text in my title is all the way to the left. Dana, or those that look but don't let me know, please help!

We recently had a fun Sunday afternoon out with my friend and her daughters. It was so fun to be out with just the girls. We went to Stream Cliff Farms. It is a lovely little farm that you can walk around in a lovely flower garden, buy plants, buy from a couple gift shops, and eat in a lovely little restaurant. I think the best part of the garden was all the photo opportunities. My daughter's favorite part had to be the little pink house she could play in. She prepared tea in the kitchen and sat outside to enjoy her tea.

At the restaurant, I even took pictures of the food! It was so perfectly presented. Now, if I can just figure out how to put the pics where I want them in my blog post. ;)

Creating Keepsakes Convention

I didn't know I was going until the night before, but I took my DD with me, since no one else was available. She was sooooooo good! She took her "scrapbooking purse" as she calls it - her little miniature tool bag that is pink. She doesn't scrapbook yet, but it is perfect for holding crayons and such. Because she was so cute w/ her little "Daddy's Little Princess" shirt and her bag, she got some free goodies. I decided to try a club where I got 5 free 2 page layout kits. It was free trial and I will get a shipment once per month. Since they thought she was so adorable, she got to pick out another page kit! Another booth gave her a package of buttons, which she put into her little scrapbooking purse. Another booth gave her a diecut. She even got a piece of chipboard that was cut from the Cricut machine at another booth. I bought her a little snippet of ribbon that she put in there, too. Oh, and she collected a business card from the booths and put them in that little bag. She had a blast being with just me all day. I enjoyed shopping with my girl, too!

Your favorite, TNT, CROCKPOT recipies? - Splitcoaststampers: "Crockpot Triple Chocolate Mess Cake

1 pckg chocolate cake mix
1 pint sour cream
1 small packg instant chocolate pudding
1 small bag chocolate chips
3/4 cup oil
4 eggs
1 cup water

Spray crockpot with non-stick spray. Mix all ingredients. Pour into crockpot.
Cook on low for 4-5 hours.
Serve in a bowl with ice cream"

This sounds so good. I thought I might try it, but it might be torture to wait that long for a cake to be ready.

What a difference a day makes...

I am on the internet at home, now. YAY!!!! Now, all is right in the world! I am loving how quickly it loads pages. We had to go with a new internet service provider in this area. I haven't even taken a picture of the house yet, but I will soon and then I'll post it on here. The kids are enjoying having their own bedrooms, but spend plenty of time in each others room playing together or looking at books. I am still trying to find a home for everything (gained a bedroom and bathroom, but lost some storage - basement, garage, coat and linen closets) and have been giving things away. I gave away a ton of baby items to my pregnant sister and friend, I also am giving away some maternity clothes to the Crisis Pregnancy Center that my pregnant friend manages. I have also Freecycled several items!

Very soon, I will put my Home Management Binder on here - well, I will start with a picture of it, but the insides aren't ready for public viewing yet. I have been able to scrapbook some this year even with moving and all. My friend has a scrapbook night once a month at her house. I try not to take a lot with me and always regret not packing more, so I am going to make up my own scrapbook kits and put them in 2 gallon zipper bags that I purchased at Aldi. WM might have them now, but they didn't when I hunted everywhere for bags large enough to hold 12x12 papers.

Liam got a couple vaccinations yesterday and doesn't even seem phased by it. He slept right afterwards, but it was nap time anyways. He is such a little monkey and climbed on Laurana's toddler bed today. I couldn't catch him fast enough. Luckily, he hit the carpet, but he fell backwards and hit his head. That boy seems to fall a lot! He took off walking all over the house once we moved. Having carpet everywhere you're supposed to and not where you shouldn't helps. (The house we just moved out of had carpet in the kitchen, dining room, and bathroom! EWW!! The kids room had carpet, too). We hated the carpet in all the rooms except the kids room wasn't so bad. The new renters are going to rip it all out and refinish the hardwood floors. I just didn't feel like improving someone else's house. Well, I will have to chat with my virtual friends later this evening (I hope), since today is grocery day. I have to double check my menu and grocery list and shower. Oh, and for now, I can't be on the computer all night because I hooked the computer into Laurana's room. We have to buy a wireless router so I can be mobile with the computer.

Moved but not settled in yet

We are moved and I'm waiting on the phone company to fix the exterior phone line, so I can be on the internet at home. They are taking their sweet time now. I am at the library just to let you know that I am still going to keep up with my blog.
We are enjoying the new house and still have a mountain of boxes to unpack. It is hard to find a place for everything since we no longer have a garage or basement. The kids don't have to share a room now and we have a 2nd bathroom, so we sacrificed some things to get some other things we needed. I can't stay long because Liam is walking everywhere and even though a laptop is mobile, it isn't mobile enough to chase him all over the library. Well, he is getting away again, so I will be on SCS again to chat with all my friends very soon. Menu Plan Monday...Late Again and Moving This Week

My Menu plan won't be much this week, since we are moving Thurs., Fri., Sat., and Sun. I also had a mystery shop for dinner on Mon. Some of the meals might be boring, but hey, we are moving and we won't go hungry. Friday will be our busiest moving day, since it's not supposed to rain. check out orgjunkie.com for great menus and organizing ideas.

lunches:
Mon. - leftover cheeseburger pie, fruit
Tues. - turkey sandwiches, fruit
Wed. - leftover fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes (all leftovers from Tues.)
Thurs. - chicken salad sandwiches (cooked chicken in Crock Pot already), grapes or bananas, veggie sticks
Fri. - turkey sandwiches, veggies and dip
Sat. - chicken salad sandwiches, fruit, veggies
Sun. - turkey pot pie (from freezer meal I made)

dinners:
Mon. - mystery shop dinner out
Tues. - HG Asian Pork Chops (from previous menu that didn't get made) for DH while kids had McD's and I ate fried chicken at MOPS.
Wed. - Sausage, Pepperoni, and Veggie Pizza (going to use premade crust and make my own. making an extra for the freezer)
Thurs. - turkey tetrazzini (from freezer) I can just pop it into the oven when it is almost time to eat dinner and add some yeast rolls to it.
Fri.- hamburger dip (cooked ground beef, cream of mushroom, Velveeta, salsa) served w/ tortilla chips - going to have a crockpot of this at both houses, so we can eat when we are hungry no matter where we are
Sat. - Subway
Sun. - meatloaf (from freezer), mashed potatoes, peas

Sorry I forgot to post this recipe. The Grandmother's Sunday Roast Mix is very versatile. You can make an onion dip, use it on pot roast, chicken, pork chops, in many different dishes. Here is the Sunday Roast Chicken Recipe:

6 chicken breasts

1 can cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)

4 scoops (4 T) of Grandmother's Sunday Roast Mix

Put all ingredients in a freezer bag, seal, label, smoosh to get seasoning mixed throughout. Freeze. Thaw just enough to dump into crockpot. **Please do not put that bag into the microwave or you will get cancer-causing agents in your food.** Thaw a bit in the fridge.

Just dump it in, turn crock pot on low. Cook 6 hours. It is a forgivable recipe and can cook longer if you work away from home all day. It is great served w/ green beans and Mom's Smashed Potatoes. If you prefer to bake or grill it out, ask me how to do that, because you can do it any of the three ways. We started going to the library for a preschool craft on Wednesdays. This is the first project Laurana got to make. The library provided a kit for free. The beard is just a fun foam beard that we glued black pom poms to. The hat is three pieces of fun foam. There is elastic to hold the hat and beard on her. The library bought a premade kit, but it would be pretty simple to make one yourself if you can find foam large enough for the tall hat. She loves it and wants to wear it almost nonstop. I hope you enjoy.

I know I am late, but I am actually sticking to my plan this week. I am relying heavily on Homemade Gourmet and on my trusty crock pot (CP by each that used the Crock Pot) to pull me through while we pack and move. We aren't doing all the moving this week, but we are making several trips. {We have a trailer we can pull behind our Chevy Tracker. It is amazing what we can haul in that. In one load, we got two adult-sized bikes, 3 lawn mowers, a weed eater, a park bench, and a rototiller on it.}
So, anyways, back to my menu. We save leftovers for lunch the following day, if we have any. I also try to do COST cooking - that is Cook Once, Serve Twice. I will do more COST in the future. That is where you make extra of something and change it up to make a new meal a couple days later. It saves a lot of time and effort in the kitchen and leftovers are not just the same old meal again.

Monday: Homemade Gourmet Garlic Basil Italian Sausage and Peppers, (CP) green beans, cheddar broccoli rice, applesauce

Tuesday: Homemade Gourmet Skillet Fried Rice (used ground turkey), carrots, chocolate chip cookies for dessert

Wednesday: German Pork Chops (CP), applesauce, Apple Cheddar Walnut Bread, peas

Thursday: Homemade Gourmet Sunday Roast Chicken (CP) (should be on HG website, but I will put it below), green beans, Easy & Elegant Twice Baked Potatoes

Friday: Homemade Gourmet Cheeseburger Mushroom Pie (using HG Taco Soup Mix seasoned ground beef that I cooked and froze), baked potatoes, steamed broccoli, peaches

Saturday: Asian Pork Tenderloin (CP), rice, mixed vegetables

Fruits of My Labor

I have been a bit busy the last few days enjoying the fruits of my labor (and my husband's), since we got our tax refund. He works, but I labored these two beautiful children that are great tax deductions. I bought a new camera, cell phone, clothes, and took the kids to Build-A-Bear for their first time. It felt so good to buy things I needed ( and wanted) and the kids had so much fun at the bear store. Laurana got a dog w/ a Cinderella dress that perfectly matches her Halloween costume. Pics soon to follow w/ them dressed alike. Liam got a cowboy dog. His hat is being shipped from an online purchase, since the store was out of them. I also got a ballet costume for her dog for a later gift. I love my new phone and camera! I am so excited to get some new things.
My son was sick and w/ us shopping so much, I didn't cook as much as planned last week, so I had to carry over most of my menu. I will have a great menu posted on Mon., though, so stayed tuned. He is all better, but the doctor wasn't sure if he had pneumonia, so we even had to get a chest x-ray done last week.

I shared this with some of my friends last year when I did this page. This picture was a happy accident of Laurana. She just wouldn't be still for a pic. Once Scott got the picture, we were impressed we got such a great picture. I just had to get a 5x7 for my page. On this page, I used silver cord, embossed w/ glitter on some stamped snowflakes, added Cuttlebug embossed silver paper, a Word Window punch for a little added detail to the corner of the picture, some snowflake brads. Snow Fun

These photos are from yesterday in our back yard. Hubby wasn't able to go to work, so he got to stay home and play. After he cooked a nice brunch (we slept in), we went out sledding, making snowballs, and snow angels. Hubby didn't tell me he couldn't see their eyes for the photo. Their hats are a little big. LOL The snow wasn't able to be packed enough to roll into a snowman, unfortunately. We had a layer of ice in the middle of all the snow. We saved a snowball in the freezer. I am going to pull it out in the heat of summer and let the kids feel it and play with it. They will think it is so fun to have a snowball in the summer! We had a lot of fun!

Children's Museum

This page is of pics of Laurana playing in a fun Curious George area and a TV area w/ Pebbles and Bam-Bam. She had so much fun at the museum. I used SU Kraft, SU Marigold Morning, and patterned paper from a stack of paper I got at Hobby Lobby (forgot the maker). I also used alien brads, a space ship brad, square brads, and a swirl clip. The letters were cut with my friend's Cricut.

Laurana practically tackled Santa. She ran right up to him and sat on his lap. She was so excited to tell him what she wanted. So, I snapped a photo of her telling him her wishes. Liam was just looking at him and wondering who was holding him. I snapped before he cried.

I used Martha Stewart alpha stamps and the "wishes" was from an SU stamp, gold cord, very vanilla cardstock, black cardstock, patterned paper (from Hobby Lobby, but forget the maker).

Super Girl

This was at the Indianapolis Children's Museum. They had an area that children could dress up as Super Man, Super Girl, or Spider Man. DD got in a taxi that Spiderman was "driving". She loved being able to dress up for the picture. I tried to free hand the Super Man symbol, but I just couldn't get it. So, I googled Super Man clip art and found the symbol. I printed it out, then traced it, cut it out of cardstock. Even though tracing sounds simple enough, it was tedious, because I wanted the symbol to be in cardstock. I mimicked the design on the taxi w/ the black gingham ribbon and tied knots in it every so often to add interest. I love this page and I hope you enjoy it, too.

Paper Christmas Trees

I just love these trees. I just took strips of double sided patterned paper (I used Basic Grey from the Figgy Pudding Collection) and attached them w/ straight pins to a styrofoam tree. On the larger tree, I folded the paper in half, but didn't crease it. On the smaller tree, I curled the paper strips up w/ a bone folder. I used a wide grosgrain ribbon for the topper. I was going to make gifts for people from these, but I never got around to it. I was actually pregnant w/ my 1 yr. old when I made these. I got instructions from http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/

I'm Back!!

I know I have been away from my blog for a long time. I really did not intend to take this long of a break from my blog, but life got crazy. My gall bladder surgery was successful. My hubby had a vasectomy in Dec. My dear grandma passed away Dec. 4. My baby boy turned 1 yr. old! Mom fell down the stairs. These are just a few of the busy life moments that took place.

Been ill lately

I was in the hospital the other day due to a severe pain in my abdomen. I will have to have gall bladder surgery. I have to do some things to get ready for surgery, such as pump milk for my baby and get the house in order since I will be taking it easy for awhile. I will try my best to post those promised pictures, but that is not the most important thing right now. Sorry for the wait. I expect I will have surgery early in Oct. and should be back to nearly normal just a couple weeks later.

God Is Not Finished With Me Yet

My grandpa woke up one night, because God spoke to him. He decided to have a family gathering and tell all his decendants about Jesus. He also spent $500 to buy a Bible for all his grandkids, their spouses and children! He gave DS the cutest little board book Bible about a little bear. It is so sweet and the cover is soft and furry! DD got a thicker Bible with Board Book type pages and longer stories than DS's. It is perfectly written for a 3 yr. old and has plenty of pictures. DH and I got a Thinline Bible in NIV. Grandpa told everyone that he reads his Bible every day and wants us to read the Word and have a relationship with Christ. I am so sorry I was unable to go to the family gathering since I had a vender fair w/ Homemade Gourmet to do. DD was w/ my parents and got to thank Grandpa and Grandma in person. I love that my new Bible is thin and easy to take with me. I can stick it in the diaper bag without it weighing it down.

After the Wind Storm...

we picked apples and pears from the ground that fell off the trees in the backyard. I am going to make apple butter, apple sauce, poached pears, and whatever else I find to do w/ them. We live far from the coast, but the wind was thanks to Hurricane Ike. I can't imagine what it would have been like if the wind was twice as fast. The victims of the hurricane are in our thoughts and prayers. Many people are without electricity, including my parents. They brought their food over to put in my freezer and took the rest to work to use the freezer there. They have a gas hot water heater, so they can at least have a hot shower in the dim light of a lantern. They bought a camp stove to cook, and at least it was not too hot today to be without air conditioning. There is even flooding in the northern part of my state and 7 people have died in Indiana from the Wind Storm and flooding. We are forunate that our power only went off for a quick moment twice.

I know I thought I'd get those pics taken and posted, but I have not had a chance yet. I will do it tomorrow. I have been learning the art of couponing lately and went to Walgreen's and got over $100 of stuff for $35 w/ all the coupons. I can also send in for three $1 rebates. DH got me the Buxton Bag that is now available at Target. It is my early b-day present.

I have been very busy with the kids, Homemade Gourmet gatherings, babysitting, mystery shops, and life lately. I have finally got some extra rest and feel like I can sit down and blog more. I have made a small scrapbook w/ DD in it wearing the dress her grandma made her for her 3rd birthday. I will add a post about it w/ pics this week.

I am also going to make myself a Home Management Binder and will post pics once I get it decorated. I am on the steering (leadership) team of MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and have to present it to everyone in Jan. and help them decorate one and then give tips on what to put inside theirs. It will have a planner, mystery shopping section, HG section (with my HG preferred customers and newsletter customers as well as orders placed, etc), a Quixtar section w/ similar info to the HG section, a grocery list, menus, freezer inventory checklist, chores and daily routines, zipper bags for receipts, mileage track, records of doctor visits and kids' weight, a Kids' Say the Darndest Things sheet for each of my kids (I can jot down funny things they say), websites I like (for when I clear the history on my computer), etc. etc. I think it will take me until Jan. to get it completed!

CrockPotting Blog

I saw Stephanie on Rachael Ray's show a couple weeks ago, since she made a resolution to use her crockpot every day for a year and blog about it. She was getting over 4000 hits per day before she was on TV. I wish I found her blog sooner. I am really enjoying it and have already tried a couple recipes. (the 5 layer brownies and chicken nachos). Go here and check out her blog. She makes me laugh all the time and tells if the recipe was good or a flop. She is quick to write back when you email her, too. I shared the crockpot recipes I have on my blog with her.

Breakfast Pizza

1 lb. breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
1 tube crescent roll dough or pizza crust
6 eggs, beaten
2 Tbsp. Homemade Gourmet Grandmother's Sunday Roast Seasoning
2 c. shredded Cheddar

Cook, drain, crumble the sausage. Turkey sausage is a great substitute. Unroll the dough into a rectangle on a cookie sheet. Use fingers or dough roller to smooth out and seal seams if using crescent dough. If using a pizza crust, create an edge to keep egg onto crust. Beat 6 eggs in a bowl w/ Grandmother's Sunday Seasoning. Pour onto crust. Spread cooked sausage on top, then add cheese to that. Cook in preheated oven at 35o Fahrenheit for 10-15 min.

I made this Saturday and it was so simple. I think I will cook the meat up ahead of time to make it even quicker next time. It was a hit w/ DH and DD decided not to try it, but I know she would like it. She is not a morning person!

This double page layout is the beginning of the pages for DD's 1st birthday party (and she just turned 3!). We did a Hula theme w/ decorations and DD's and my clothes. No one else dressed the part. She had a cake w/ Lilo and Stitch on it and a surfboard. I used the SU set Do the Hula for invitations. I did this layout for a VSBN challenge on SCS to grab items to use in only 3 min. and complete the page in only 1 hr. I did get the left page in an hour, but I needed about 30 min. to do the right page. So, I guess I did the challenge, since each page was under one hour.

Wheely Special Cake

I found a great cake in Parents magazine to make a that looks like a ferris wheel. All you need is a cake mix (I did 2), frosting, food coloring (they recommended paste for more vibrant colors, but I used what I had), Runts candy (2 boxes), gum drops, Rainbow Twizzlers, 20 Dum Dums suckers, 7 C. Rice Krispy Cereal, 4 Tbsp. butter, 1 c. melted white chocolate chips, 10 oz. marshmallows, 4 wooden skewers, 4 blue paper cupcake liners, a 9 inch round cake pan, and pyrex bowl to bake the cake in. I placed the domed cake on top of a 9x13 cake for extra stability & more servings.

So, put wax paper in the bottom of the round cake pan & grease the sides well. Melt the butter & marshmallows on low heat in large pan. Remove from heat. Color orange w/ food coloring and stir in. Add 1/2 c. melted white choc. chips & 7 c. Rice Krispies Cereal. Stir well. Put into cake pan, pressing firmly to make a solid wheel. Refrigerate at least 30 min. to set up.

Bake cake in greased & floured bowl - I used 2 qt. Pyrex. Must be ovensafe. Bake in 350 preheated oven for 40 - 50 min. Test w/ cake tester or toothpick to make sure it is done. Let cool in bowl several min. Run rubber spatula around edges to loosen from bowl. Place cooling rack on top of bowl & flip them both together. I also make a 9x13 at the same time. Baked 9x13 according to directions on the box.

Remove cereal treat from pan and put on a plate. Cut Twizzlers into 12 4 1/2 inch strips. Melt remaining white choc. chips (1/2 c.) and put into sandwich zipper bag. Snip sm. piece of bag at corner. Use it to attach Twizzlers into spokes. Place a gum drop (I used Dots candy) in center of wheel. Pipe white choc. dots on edge to attach Runts. Put in fridge to set up for 5 min. Carefully, flip & repeat on other side.

Tint vanilla frosting w/ red food coloring. It will come out pink unless you use paste food coloring. DD's favorite color, so I didn't mind the pink. Frost cake on cake plate or serving platter. I frosted the 9x13 first, then transfered the dome cake to the top using a spatula. Before transferring the dome cake, cut a notch out of the top to hold the wheel 2 inches wide by 3 inches long by 1 inch deep. Frost cake. Arrange runts around the edges. The sample in the magazine only had orange and green pieces around the base of the cake and had red, yellow, and blue around edge of the wheel. DH only found Tropical flavors, so we made do w/ different colors.

While wheel is on plate, attach 4 cupcake liners w/ dum dums suckers (5 per cup). We attached the cupcake liners w/ a small pieces of wooden skewer first, since it is tapered at the end. It was much easier to attach. After you get your people in their seats, attach 4 skewers in bottom of wheel about 1/2 inch apart from each other. Leave 3 inches of the skewers showing. Stand wheel into cake notch. Frost any imperfections around the wheel if your notch is a bit too big.

Attach wheel to cake. I recommend you do this after your guests arrive, since the humidity or wind in our case, may make it hard to stay up more than 30 min. Oh, walk very slowly w/ cake to the display table, because it feels like it will fall off.

Grease 13x9 casserole dish. Place potatoes in bottom, add onion, pour cans over. Slice sausage and add to the top. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F for 1 hr.

Crock pot Pizza

The quantities are up to you, so use as little or as much as you like to suit your family size and taste buds. Omit or add something if you prefer.

1 lb. lean ground beef or ground turkey, browned and drained (add onion and bell peppers to skillet and cook together, if you like)
1 pkg. pepperoni slices, separte each piece
can mushrooms, drained
spaghetti, cooked and drained ( I break into sm. pieces to make it easier to eat)
2 c. mozzarella (we love cheese and use more)
1 t. (or more) Homemade Gourmet Garlic Basil
jar of favorite spaghetti sauce or make HG Homestyle Spaghetti Sauce

Dump all ingredients into large crockpot. Stir to combine. Cover and cook on low 4-6 hours.

I buy boneless chops and put them in the crock pot. Pour 2 c. apple juice (no added sugar like Juicy Juice) and a dash of cinnamon. Cook on low 4-6 hours. I got this recipe from a church cookbook. Serve w/ applesauce or apple cobbler for dessert to tie the flavors together nicely. Even my picky DD eats this up.

Baby Beauty Pageant 2006

This was the baby beauty pageant at the county fair. It was very hot and they had us right in the sun for lining up and for judging. The judges decided that in order for a baby to win they had to smile. DD was not in the mood to smile, because it was hot (around 95 or 100 degrees) and she wasn't used to being in full sun during those temperatures. She was good, but didn't show off for the judges. This was just a few days before her 1st birthday, and she wasn't quite walking on her own. She won in my book! She is the one in the middle.

I forgot to put a title on my page! I am a late night scrapper or I try to scrap on the weekends while DH can entertain DS. He is still quite clingy, so I even wear him in the sling to scrap. I was probably tired when I did this.

The base of the page is Wild Wasabi, the patterned paper is from SU, the mats are choc. chip and bashful blue. I used a flourish stamp set I got from my friend, Tessa that is from TAC. I even used a little envelope from her. I used a scrap of silk ribbon to tie around the stitched Wild Wasabi grosgrain and a large gold eyelet. I stamped flourishes in Close to Cocoa and also inked up the envelope that holds the tag I made. I have journaling on the tag that reads: This is one of my favorite pictures of us. This was taken in the fall of 2004 when I was not pregnant or too early to tell. I had just lost 30 lbs. and my hair

was looking good. I do miss getting my hair highlighted.

Baby Sprinkle (Shower)

Since I was pregnant with my 2nd child, we called the shower a sprinkle. We only needed boy clothes & diapers. The top pic is me, my friends Beth, & Joy holding my daughter. The quilled giraffe was a premade giraffe I bought with the intent to use on a zoo page. I used choc chip, creamy caramel, GP white & Blue bayou cardstock, paper flowers, and some scalloped ovals.

Trying to Make Up for Lost Time

I realize I didn't add new posts for about 3 weeks and I'm trying to add something new for you to look at. These are of my daughter and my husband working in the garden. She is so adorable and loves to help. When he handed her some seeds to drop into the row, she threw them, though. When they were planting the tomato plants, she laid down on her stomach, so she could help pack the dirt in around the plant. She loves getting her garden gloves and rain boots on to go help Daddy. I actually made a set of gardening tool embellishments ages ago from wire and the use of an idea book. I plan to add them to a layout if I can find them.

Lip Biting and Spiked Hair

My son's hair is so flyaway and baby fine, but it looked so adorable when he got sweaty. I made it stand up and he was making the cutest faces, so we had to get the camera out. He is also sucking his bottom lip in since he started teething. So sweet!

I used the Cherish book by CTMH for the sketch of this layout. I used the SU stamp set Miracle of Spring, SU mellow Moss, whisper white, SU DP, scalloped oval punches, and quill strips. Quilled eggs are shown up close in the last photo. Quilling is very easy if you have a quilling tool. Just twirl it around the tool and pull off, let it loosen up as desired, pinch end to make the shape, glue end together. We made tie dyed eggs that we bought a kit for, but you could do it on your own. You need a different medicine dropper for each color of dye. Put an egg in a sandwich sized zipper bag, add a couple colors of dye. Zip closed and rub the dye into the egg.

You can only see a dimple in one photo. I used a sketch from CTMH Cherish book. I used a retired DP by SU (the blue and white squiggles), 2 other patterned papers (unknown mfg.), Certainly Celery cs, Certainly Celery and Blue Bayou ink w/ Little Shapes, and chipboard letters.

Snow Fun

This is my daughter with her very first snowman. He is taller than my husband. DH got to be a kid again and play outside with our snow bunny for about 2 hrs.
I used Basic Grey patterned paper, SU Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, GP white, Soft Sky ink, tempting turquoise ink, ribbon, stapler, distressing tool, stamps are all CTMH.

We do have a little Irish in us, among several other nationalities.

I uses a sketch from SCS - forgot which one, but I turned it on its side. I used choc chip, Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla, and MME Wild Asparagus paper. I also used a glittery flower w/ a green w/ white polka dotted brad in the center, shamrock brads, SU SAB rub-ons, Wild Wasabi stitched ribbon, green stickles on the rub-on, green primas, and a poem from a book. The poem is by Crystal Dawn Perry & it reads:

Let me dress you up in green

And I'll carry you on my arm.

You can be my little leprechaun.

You're already my lucky charm.

Tip: cover part of a photo. I was sitting a bit crooked & I didn't like the look of my hips and thighs, so I used primas to hide a little bit of me. I also accidentally mis-spelled a word in my poem, so I selected a few words to cover up w/ vanilla cardstock w/ the word on that.

This is of my husband and children on Easter. It was a chilly day, so we put the baby in a one piece sweater outfit and my daughter had a sweater on w/ her dress. This page is using only SU products. The patterned vellum is retired and I believe the stamps are, too.

This is another two page layout that I used the Basic Grey Oh Baby! Boy kit. I stamped the stars in So Saffron (the little ones) and Buckaroo blue (the larger ones), then cut them out. I love to use strips of patterned paper, too. I just cut various sizes and made sure to do two in that size, to make one for each page. I adhered the strips to a paper I wasn't crazy about that I had for years and used the white back side (in case I didn't get my stips lined up perfectly and a little white showed through). The tag is also part of the kit and I used some fiber on the tag. The stamps are SU.

This is a 2 page layout I did on white (not my favorite choice), so I used Marigold Morning to ink up the edges. I used Basic Grey Oh Baby! Boy kit, SU Nursery Necessities, Making Memories orange ric rack, unknown mfg for green strip and mats. My boy was making so many cute faces, so I just had to take these beautiful photos of him.
